Works for LA140
This starter worked great for my John Deere LA140 mower. I had to remove the engine shroud to access the bolts to remove it. I also recommend removing the battery to avoid shorting things out. You will need a long, skinny, T-40 driver to remove the bolt on the right side of the starter. Fits and works on 24 HP intek Briggs Engine on 48 inch husqvarna Riding mower.
Thought I had a bad battery, but turned out to be the starter. Kind of a struggle to get to one bolt on the starter, but it's doable after you get the shield out of the way. Using a torx screwdriver instead of a socket torx is better, so get one to make the job easier. The size is the same as the bolts on the top of the flywheel.Engine turns over faster than ever now and starts right up.

Quick ship. Easy installation. Cranks engine a little faster than original. I've read reviews where people think they have to remove the flywheel. I purchased a long (3in) 40 torx 3/8 drive socket. Had no problem with removal or installation. Swap took less than 10 minutes. I'm a very happy customer.
