One of the best books if 2021. Desperately waiting for book 3
This is one of the best books written in this genre. the author is so skilled in her plotting that every twist and turn came out of the blue and shocked you to the core. the ending left me wanting the next book as soon as possible. there is great character development. all the characters develop throughout the book and changes in their behavior don't seem abrupt. the foundation of trust between Oli and her bonds develops organically.I have a more detailed review belowWriting styleThe writing style is very refined and it doesn't come out as flashy. The tone is very contemporary and the reader doesn't get bored.CharacterisationAll the characters, leading as well as supporting are very well written. they are fleshed out in such a way that even their day-to-day interactions dont seem trivial and their banter is enjoyable.Pacing of the storyIn my opinion the story have a medium pace. It is a balance between character driven and plot driven story. Neither the relationship building nor the plot is compromised in this book.Characters-Oleander Fallos - She is 19 years old. she is the central Bond to Gryphon, Nox, North, and Atlas. A lot of information is revealed about her powers. She is a very strong fmc who stands up for herself .Gabriel - He is 19 years old and goes with Oli to the Draven University. He is a shifter. He is more affectionate towards Oli and realizes his mistakes.Atlas Bassinger - He is 20 years old and also accompanies Oli to the university. His power is revealed in this book. He is very protective of Oli.Gryphon Shore - He is 23 years old and the commander of Tactical Team. He is a very considerate person and doesn't come to wrong conclusions easily he is the most level headed member of the bond group.Nox Draven - He is 23 years old and he is a lecturer of gifted history in the Draven University. He is a broken hero and although his past trauma is not revealed but it is evident that it has left him damaged. There is a very slight improvement in his behaviour towards oleander but I am sure that when he will come out of his shell then he will be one of the most adored characters in this series. He is best friends with Gryphon.North Draven - he is 28 years old and he has a seat in the gifted Council. He is is the leader of of their bond group and he is the one who usually takes decisions for their group. He is a bit controlling but this book reveals his softer side which he tries to cover with an impenetrable attitude to avoid getting hurt. The book also has other supporting characters such as Sage who is Oli's best friend and have the power of fire. She has a very small plot line of her own which adds to the plot without deviating it from its main story arc. Then there is Sawyer who is Sage's brother and Gabe's good friend.Felix who is one of Sage's love interest.Kieran who is Gryphon's second in command. He really grew on me in this book.Overall this is a great story. I was a bit hesitant to dive into this because I have never read this genre book before but the story is great in itself so I think you would enjoy it a lot. This is the second book and you need to read the first one in order to comprehend the events.Best of luck to J bree for writing the third book because she has set the bar very high.

Loved it
The covers of this series are some of the coolest I have ever seen. Honestly! 5 stars!Back to the book ...the steam and all the angst finally came to a boiling point and the scene between Oli and Gryphon was 🔥🔥🔥🔥.More twists and turns, more action , more betrayal and really more than 300 pages of pure awesome

Okay what?!
What was that cliffhanger?! I'm just so confused about why things ended like that? Oli is quite powerful so being "the bait" makes no sense to me. Also the scene with the chip got me thinking if I missed something.. Didn't all of Oli's bonds know that she was chipped after she was brought in by the Tac Team in the beginning of book one? What am I missing?!The story moves in a moderate pace with Oli back after the incident that ended in the previous book. Everyone is spooked out by her and is threatened by her 6 membered bond group because apparently everyone has really strong top tier powers. The Resistance is still on the move while Oli refuses to divulge all her secrets to her bonds.I don't know why but for some reason Nox reminds me of Ash Beaumont from Hannaford Prep with his pissy attitude! I love how the guys have made more of an impression in this book. Gryphon..damnnn that guy made me blush with his dirty talk. 😳 Thankfully, North has also redeemed himself to a tiny extent. But I just can't help feel that something is up with Atlas!! Maybe it's a me thing. Because he suddenly accepted Oli and didn't care about what she did in the past. And how did he suddenly realise *everything* that Oli is capable of?! That whole dialogue towards the end where he explains her actual core power seems kinda weird. Like he knew it just like that?! How?!!!There wasn't a lot that made me sit on the edge. I wanted so much more to happen and was pretty disappointed to see the book end too soon! Also, is it weird that I find a lot of Lips in Oli? There's a scene with her wearing a playsuit and I couldn't stop comparing it to the exact same scene that happened in Play The Game, down to the tapes and the extra short playsuit that seemed almost obscene to everyone. I don't know.. I'm just pissed that another character shares similar-ishhh scenes to one of my favourite characters. It's crazy because both these characters belong to J Bree, but I just can't help being weirdly possessive over Lips and her story. 🤷🏾♀️

This was so savage...
J Bree has this amazing trait of projecting her characters as kickass yet vulnerable. Be it Oli or even Nox...yeah yeah even Nox.Savage bonds has the right amount of drama and suspence that makes it an amazing sequel to what is turning out to be one of the best and hottest series this year has to offer.I loved how even the lateral character growths were made along with the leads. That what makes Savage bond such a great read. I cannot wait for Blood bonds to hit my kindle in December...its gonna be epic too!PS: The cliffy in Savage Bond is what, Savage is, in this book 😉😉😉

I am in awe!
J Bree, take a bow. You've done it again. This book was mesmerizing. Also, I cannot deal with the crazy cliffhanger you left us on. How am I supposed to deal with it?

It was awesome
I read the 1st two books in 3 days......and then I read both again. I think I am going to continue doing that till the third book is released. I was a bit sceptical about it being reverse harem, but it turned out to be a good story, well written. Oli is witty and smart

J Bree just gets better!
So the mild cliffhanger at the end of the first book is addressed straight away, but the cliffhanger at the end of this book...well, just beware it's a mind-blower! That being said, please don't wait to read this book until the next one is out; they're so good they deserve love and attention straight away. This book really gets to grips with Oli and her guys. We learn more about the backstories of each of them and what their individual powers are. We learn more about Sage and her relationships (towards the end this story thread becomes so intriguing and possibly relevant to Oli!! Ahhh no spoilers are hard!) Nox and North both provide wonderful companions for Oli (who also have deeper relevance I'm sure) in Brutus and August, the best and most adorably savage shadow puppies EVER ❤)I've seen it said that Oli behaves immaturely for someone who supposedly took care of herself on the streets for years. Yes, Oli had to look after herself, but also...she had never had 5 alpha males to deal with! She'd never been close to any men or had any male role models that we know of after her dads died. Her confusion and awkwardness regarding her Bonds is perfectly understandable in my opinion. It's new territory for them all, and J Bree does a wonderful job of showing their struggles. It's true, a lot of the main action happens towards the end of the book, but the emotions and daily lives of the characters are nothing to be sneered at! J Bree always has a reason, and I believe the smaller details could be key to the future plot points so I devoured every tiny bit I could! Get your flowcharts ready! Prime your whiteboards! Keeping track of all of the breadcrumbs is such fun with these books! There are still so many things unanswered and so many possible theories that I'm unbelievably excited for the next books, still 4 to go and so much could happen!

Good second book, not great
You could skip this book and jump straight to the third in the series without actually missing out.Whilst a reader often builds their own expectations waiting for a follow up book (difficult to reconcile with what the author delivers) very little actually happens in this book not even great character development or explanations. It feels like a place-holder for the third book which I will be buying, but probably won't be waiting for with quite the same level of enthusiasm. There are two biggish plot reveals in the last couple of chapters both signposted in the first book: the villains are too well-organised so there has to be a traitor or two be found. The world building is based on genetic "bonds" basically the fated mates trope but somehow the process has failed. Whilst the female lead is bitterly blamed for abandoning her bonds, her best friend's bond is getting absolutely no shame for doing exactly the same thing.

Just gets better
Savage Bonds picks up where Broken Bonds ended. Oli gets taken by the resistance when she has gone after her friend Sage. Things happen that result in Oli using her gifts that she has gone to so much trouble to hide.In Savage Bonds we start to learn more about all of the powers everyone has and a little more about how the bond works and is affecting Oli.I love that Oli starts getting closer to all of the guys, apart from Nox who is still a 🍆. There is more to Nox than we know at this point??Her guys are starting to understand that there was a reason she ran and that it wasn't because she wanted nothing to do with them.It is lovely to see them all (well, nearly all) starting to show their feelings for her. It's also great to see how they begin to respect her more and take care of her, especially when they realise how much her bond needs them, and they start giving her clothes that smell of them so she can feel close to them. They could easily try to force the bond, but they don't.And what can i say about Brutus, Nox's shadow puppy, that has taken a liking to Oli and spends all its time hiding in her hair. He is easily one of my favourite characters. In this book we also learn more about how things work within the gifted community itself. This book ends with a cliffhanger, of course, and leaves a lot of questions that need answers

Love the series but not this book.
In this book we have Oli and her bonds trying to find ways to appease Olis bond without the need for sex. Which would be fine if they didnt use this as a way to override her own thoughts and feelings. As it is they already decide everything for her down to what she eats. But then deciding whose bed she will sleep in and when is going a bit far.. especially when one of them doesnt want her there. The scene that really turned my stomach and put me off this book is Oli finally bonding. A scene I was orginally looking forward to since we all knew it would happen eventually. But the way it happened.. without her consent..without the other party even trying to see sense and maintain control himself, or question her personality change, when she was so against bonding earlier. The way he so brutally went about it. Then he usea that newly created bond to pry into her mind, into her most private thoughts and allows her no privacy. It was bad enough her other freedoms were restricted. Now this. Also he was so undeserving of her, if it had been Atlas or Gabe.. it wouldve made more sense. They've been supportive and caring of her for months.. and they wouldnt have gone about it like that. Neither was he apologetic about what he has done, but proud he beat the others to the punch. Despite the fact she never actually chose him.The person it ended up being blows hot and cold.. and while he has his caring moments it was nothing it comparison to Atlas and Gabe. She was embarrassed seeing them afterwards and so she should be. The treated her like gold..and she put them on the backburner.SPOILER ALERT, she does that to those two for a long damn time. Too long. Was such a disappointment to a built up moment and didnt really interest me to care about their bond. Really spoilt this book for me. So while Ive read the whole series Im gonna imagine that scene went differently.

amazing plot idea, awful character and story progression
The worst thing, absolute worst thing... is the plot is god dam awesome! Honest to god amazing! It is just such a shame the character development and story progressions crap AWFUL. Oli isn't a bad ass her bond is. She spent the whole of the first book being mentally and verbally abused by her bonds, like they have some god given right to her, to own and control her and then suddenly shes bonded to one of them and can't go anywhere without wearing some of their clothing and has to sleep in their beds on rotation... pathetic! She stops Nox from bonding with her when he sexually assaulted her in the first book but can't cope with a little perfume!! This is domestic abuse at its finest an abuse of power and control by most of her bonds. If I didn't have kindle unlimited I wouldn't read any more, but I'm in this now and I know I am just going to keep getting disappointed. J Bree wrote Handford prep for christ sake, I know she can write amazing FML so why is Oli character development failing so miserably?!?!?
